Mr. Ettinghausen is professor emeritus at the University of Southampton (where he was Professor of Hispanic Studies) and is a specialist in Quevedo, who presented on his doctoral thesis at Oxford. He has also been vice president wash of the International Association for Studies Spanish Golden Age (1993-1996). He has written numerous works on the Spanish Golden Age and the origins of the Spanish and Catalan press and is the author, among other works in this case along with his son Didac, the book published by the Province of Girona on History of the town of La Pera, a town where he lived for some time.
In 2003 he received the Cross of St. J barley its relationship to language and literature wash studies in Britain, wash which led him to preside over the Anglo-Catalan Society in 1984-1987 and by providing valuable support to return the documents confiscated by the Franco dictatorship in Catalonia as a member of the Dignity Commission.
